THE NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, JODHPUR
BRIEF BACKGROUND
NLU-Jodhpur was established in 1999 under the National Law University, Jodhpur, Act, 1999 enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature. It was established under the leadership of N.L. Mitra. It offers B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) at the undergraduate level.
LOCATION
- National Law University Jodhpur is situated 12 kms away from the main city on NH-65. There are university buses that ply from the campus to the city at least 5 times both in the morning and in the evening at specific timings.
- It takes 14 minutes to travel from Jodhpur Railway Station to National Law University Jodhpur as the approximate driving distance between Jodhpur Railway Station and National Law University Jodhpur is 12 kms.
- The University is situated about 30 min away from the Jodhpur Airport.
MODE OF ADMISSION
The admission to the National Law School Bangalore happens through a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Each year, the CLAT is conducted in the month of May and consists of objective type questions of a standard expected of 10+2 students and will be of 2 hours’ duration. The test is divided into five sections mainly- Verbal Ability, General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning and Legal Aptitude. The test will carry a maximum of 200 marks. NLSIU offers a five years integrated B.A.LLB.

The criteria for negative marking is based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark.
If more than one candidate gets the same rank in the merit list, the order of priority for the selection of the candidate against the available vacancies will be strictly based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO BA.LLB (Hons)
A candidate for admission to the B.A.,/Bsc LL.B. (Hons.) Degree Course shall have:
- passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an examination equivalent thereto securing in the first attempt, not less than 50% (45% in case of SC / ST candidates and persons with disability) in the aggregate, and
- not completed 20 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission. In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and persons with disability, the maximum age limit shall be 22 years.
- Those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks are not eligible for admission. Candidates whose Statement of marks of the qualifying examination is not available at the time of formal interviews, are also not eligible for admission.

Based on the previous year trends, the ideal score for a candidate to get through to NLU-Jodhpur in CLAT 2020 should be between 140-145.
DURATION & ACADEMIC TERMS
- The duration of the course shall be for a period of Five Academic Years.
- Each academic year is divided into two semesters and ten semesters in all.

INFRASTRUCTURE
- The University provides to its students air-conditioned classrooms with comfortable seating arrangements. Each classroom has a slide-projector attached which has reaped immense benefits to the students through the medium of e-learning.
- There are two Moot Court Rooms that have been made in the Halls of Learning, each of which is an exact replica of the Actual Court.
- Library block has a well-equipped computer lab with latest configuration. It has 1 Gbps Internet facilities. IT facilitates faculty members & students to explore online libraries and knowledge resources.
- There is a Local Area Network (LAN) at 100Mbps providing 100% connectivity to the entire campus including Halls of Residence.
- National Law University Jodhpur Campus has a State Bank of India Branch located in its community center for the fiscal convenience of the students. The branch provides all banking facilities to the students to ensure that they do not have to visit the city for the same.
- The University has therefore made provisions of a well maintained Gym and able Gym Instructor. All sophisticated equipment needed for the purpose has been provided by the University. Gym facilities have been created separately for boys and girls.
- It has a badminton court and cultural theatre as well.
- There is a proper medical centre, with facilities to meet any emergency situation when need be. A qualified Doctor visits the Centre for Medical Care daily between 5-6 pm. The Centre is well equipped with all the basic medicines which may be required to cater to minor medical needs. These services are available 24*7.
HOSTEL SERVICES
- The University has two hostels: boys and girls.
- Every student has been allotted individual rooms with adequate space for a cupboard and a table and chair with an attached balcony. The students are allowed to keep a cooler as per their convenience.
- The toilets and washrooms are shared in the hostels, with one compound for the same on every floor.
- A water cooler has been placed in the pantry of every floor except the ground floor and the top floor. A woman who does the laundry regularly visits the hostels.
FEE STRUCTURE for 2019-20
- The fees structure for BA/BBA LLB will be Rs 9.2 lakhs for five years.
FACULTIES

RANKINGS IN INDIA
According to National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), NLU Jodhpur has a score of 63.94 and is at the sixth rank. The NIRF is a ranking adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Rankings are based on “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
PLACEMENTS & SALARY PACKAGES
The pay packages offered by national law firms range between Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh per annum, whereas, international law firms have offered packages between Rs. 28 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh per annum in the previous year. The pay packages of corporates range between Rs. 4.5 lakh to Rs. 11 lakh per annum for the previous year.
The law firms and corporate that visit NLU for placements include AZB & Partners, Argus Partners, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Khaitan & Co, L& L Partners, S&R Associates, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Talwar Thakore Associates, Hindalco, L&T, Tata Chemicals, Zydus Cadila Ltd. The PSUs visiting the campus are Indian Oil Corporation, National Thermal Power Corporation, Bharat Heavy Electrical and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation. The International Law Firms visiting the campus are Allen and Overy, LLP, U.K; Afridi & Angell, Dubai; Clifford Chance LLP, U.K.; Herbert Smith LLP, U.K. and Simmons & Simmons, U.K.
