The Faculty of Law organizes Moot Courts within the classrooms, Intra Class Moot Court Competitions, and National Moot Court Competitions. In fact, in March 2011 a National Law Reform Competition was organized by the Faculty of Law which was the first of its kind in India. We also organize National Seminars and Conferences periodically besides Extension Lectures by eminent speakers from India and abroad.

One of the alumni qualified for the Civil Services Examination in 2011. One student topped the West Bengal Judicial Service Examination. The alumni were selected for the Delhi Judicial Service, Guwahati Judicial Service, and Haryana Judicial Service.

Candidates planning to appear in the JMI BA LLB entrance exam are advised to start their preparation as early as possible to ensure that they score well in the exam. The biggest question that comes to the candidate's mind is how to start their preparation. The JMI BA LLB 2023 exam preparation should include covering the syllabus, making short notes for revision, practicing sample questions, and making strategies for exam day. Read the complete article to know how to prepare for JMI BA LLB 2023 and other important details.

  • Firstly, you need to realise that where do you stand? Whether you're a school student, a year dropper, or already into graduation. Your current standing decides the time you have in hand for preparation, and the extent of knowledge you can grab in that certain time period.
  • According to the current trends, all competitive exams, including law school entrance exams, question paper focuses on general awareness and current affairs.
  • Basic preparation technique, read English newspaper (the Hindu, or any other), and current affairs magazine (PRAVAHINI) on a daily basis. Current Affairs of the past 1 year from the exam are a must for law entrances.
  • For static General Knowledge, You need not learn by heart all the content. Pay special emphasis on modern history, awardees, and position holders (Attorney General, Army chief, etc.). Read this book thoroughly. Don't stress about remembering the whole stuff. Remember, the focus of the examiner is on current affairs. So, don't stress yourself too much over General Knowledge.
  • Then comes the most important part, which is Legal Aptitude. Here is some hefty work that has to be accomplished. Buy some coaching institute’s study material, such as that of Career Launcher, CLAT Possible. I suggest you to but a Law Entrance Book (Universal or Arihant). It contains all the required legal knowledge regarding, Constitutional Law, Law of Torts, Law of Crimes, Law of Contracts, etc. Read the legal section very thoroughly.
  • Then comes the English and Logical Reasoning section. Practice this from the past year's question papers of different entrance examinations. Refer to the law entrance book of Arihant or Universal for foundational practice. That would suffice.
  • Lastly, give a little time to mathematics by practicing it from PYQs. Law entrance has a very little number of questions from mathematics, but they are important to score an edge over others. So do not forget to practice them.

How is the life in a Top Law School in India?

Finally, after crossing all the hurdles of boards, entrance and counseling, you successfully land into your ‘destined’ law school. We have precisely used the term ‘destined’ over here because there are times when you don’t want to join a particular college but have no other options apart from it, and my dear friends life is all about unexpected things. So, below we have described certain things that are unique to a law school:

  1. CASES: Teaching in law school revolves around ‘cases’. Most of the teachers quote direct reference from different Supreme court, high court and district court cases. Initially, this is difficult for the students to adapt to this methodology. However with the passage of time, they start adapting to it. A well-stocked library comes to the rescue of the students as most of them prefer to read books in their free time to develop their understanding of the subject.
  2. MOOT COURTS: These are mock courts where students argue imaginary cases for practice. But this is one of the most fun-filled and loved exercise. Lawyers wait for it eagerly. There are inter-college national and international level moot competitions that take place during the course. This is one of the classic example of learning by doing. The simulated environment provides the students a feeler of the courts and they continue to hone their skills.
  3. PARLIAMENTARY DEBATING: This is the second most loved exercise at the law schools. They are often referred to as ‘PDs’ by the students. There are two parts to a Parliamentary debate – The Speakers, and the Adjudicators, both of whom are marked by the other. While this may seem strange at first, it’s only a matter of a few debates before one grabs the nuances of debating.

Both Moot courts and PDs help the students to develop their analytical and oratory skills. They understand the nuances and details of building an argument and putting them across in a right manner. Life of a budding lawyer revolves around Acts, Debates, Cases, Internships and placements, Moots, Research Papers, and Sports Fests. You will have to burn the midnight oil but at the same time you will equally enjoy the fests and inter college competitions.

Life in a law school can be truly described as the metamorphosis of a student from being an aspiring lawyer to an actual one.

What is the examination mode of CLAT 2024?

CLAT 2024 is a Test that is Paper - Pen based i.e. Offline Mode
