Reasons & Benefits of Conducting CUET Exam

The push for a common entrance test comes at a time when unrealistic cutoffs for admission to premier institutions like Delhi University have underlined the need for alternatives. The UGC hopes it will create a level playing field for everyone.

It was observed that there is huge competition in top universities with high cut-off marks, so the exam was introduced to reduce the high cut-off standards for entering these prestigious colleges.

The exam is a centralized test for top universities like Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Central University of Punjab, and Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Being a centralized test, students can focus on a single aptitude test instead of appearing for multiple entrance tests to get admission to these top universities.

Eligibility Criteria for CUET UG Programs

Class 12 Board marks will not carry any weightage. The universities may, at best, use the Board exam marks as an eligibility criterion for the test.
